Even with careful selection of materials and extensive procedures to limit variability, the selected test materials still contain inherent MD (machine direction) variability. We use a randomization process to spread the variability evenly throughout the lot. CTS’ time tested, prime number algorithm was derived more than 30 years ago. We have automated this process using a mechanical collator to minimize sample handling.
