Five proficiency tests are offered in the field of trace evidence. Each test is issued once per year
and allows nine weeks (shipment to Data Due Date) for analysis.
Flammables Analysis Proficiency Test: 536
This proficiency test requires the detection, identification and/or comparison of flammable residue
evidence. The samples for this test are contained within Nylon bags. A control will be provided.
Please Note: The Kapak FireDebrisPAK™ bags used in past Flammables
Analysis tests have been discontinued by the manufacturer. They will be replaced with Nylon bags starting in 2007.

Fibers Analysis Proficiency Test: 539
This proficiency test involves the identification, analysis and comparison of fibers trace
evidence. Participants are provided with both known and questioned samples. Samples consist of synthetic and/or
processed natural fibers.
Paint Analysis Proficiency Tests: 545, 546
These proficiency tests involve the analysis and comparison of paint trace evidence. Participants are
provided with both known and questioned samples. Samples are restricted to materials that meet the definition of paint as outlined by the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology.
Glass Analysis Proficiency Test: 548
This test involves the analysis and comparison of glass trace evidence. Participants are provided
with both known and questioned samples.

This is not an online submission of your
data; these forms must be printed and then mailed or faxed to
CTS (e-mailed data sheets will not be accepted).
