Background
Collaborative Testing Services, Inc. (CTS) in cooperation with Dr. Robert O. Miller is pleased to announce a new interlaboratory testing program for agricultural laboratories. The Agriculture Laboratory Proficiency (ALP) Program will introduce several new features to your laboratory community that will extend the usefulness of the program, but the program will maintain the core features that your laboratory has depended on in the past. Dr. Miller will serve as the ALP Technical Director and this program will begin operation in March 2007.
The ALP Program will offer testing in a wide array of analyses on soils, botanicals, water and will also include environmental analyses for soils. Soil methods include all those designated in US regional publications and Canada, covering chemical analyses and a limited number of physical parameters. Botanical and Water methods cover primary and secondary inorganic analyses. The Soil Environmental program covers elements designated in EPA 3050A and 3051A.
The program will be based on a triennial schedule as shown below. The ALP Program will provide four soils, three botanicals and two water samples. Samples will be sent to participants in early March, late June and late September during the year.
Laboratories will have four weeks to submit their testing data. CTS will collect and analyze the data. Participants will receive an individualized report as soon as two weeks after the data due date. Dr. Miller will assist CTS in interpreting the collected data and will provide report summary. Dr. Miller will also be available to assist laboratories in interpreting their results and provide technical support for improving laboratory performance.
Participating laboratories will also be able to purchase additional sample materials after the completion of a testing round. |
