Crime Scene Processing (Mock Crime Scene)

CTS Crime Scene Processing (CSP) tests allow laboratories to assess multiple technicians or teams per day using their own equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Using a scenario developed to meet typical assessment requirements, CSP includes a realistic mock crime scene administered on a scheduled date at participants’ facilities that can be customized to include certain types of evidence.

CSP, included in CTS’ Scope of Accreditation to ISO 17043, assesses participants by directly observing their usage of skillsets involved in real casework, including: the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE), photography, crime scene sketching, documentation, note-taking, scene logging, the identification and recovery of evidence, and techniques for collecting, preserving, and packaging evidence.

Crime Scene Individual Skill Sets

CTS Crime Scene tests are ideal for laboratories testing individualized skill sets as needed on a predetermined schedule.  Aspects of crime scene examination represented in the discipline include the use of firearms at a scene, bloodstain pattern analysis, the lifting and processing of latent prints, and identifying body fluid on various substrates.
